Bobby Aniekwu Elected President of CISA
The Board of Presidents of the Council of Igbo States in Americas (CISA) has elected Attorney Ozo Bobby Aniekwu as the next President to pilot the affair of the apex Igbo organization in the United States.
Attorney Aniekwu, who is from Enugu state, will take over from Nze Amadiebube Mbama (Imo) whose tenure expires on December 31, 2019. CISA Bylaws stipulates a two-year rotational presidency among the Igbo speaking states of Abia, Anambra, Anioma, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo. The change in leadership is formerly ratified by CISA Board of Presidents. The new administration of Attorney Aniekwu commences on January 1, 2020.
Attorney Aniekwu, who is a consummate legal luminary, owns and runs a professional law firm in the Atlanta metropolitan area in the State of Georgia as a principal attorney. He is highly and widely recommended and brings a wealth of experience critical for CISA’s continuing advancement. Attorney Aniekwu attended the College of Immaculate Conception (C.I.C), Enugu and holds a bachelor’s in business administration majoring in finance and health administration; a master’s degree in taxation and a Doctorate in Jurisprudence – Law.
His professional and public service background includes his numerous licenses in General Securities Investment, a chartered financial consultant and Fellow of United States National Tax Practice Institute (F-NTPI) among others. He is the National Chair of the United States Diaspora Affiliate of the Alaigbo Development Foundation (“ADF”). Dr. Aniekwu, a traditional holder of Ozo title in Alaigbo belongs and serves many professional organizations in Nigeria and United States. Prior to his election as President, Aniekwu was and remains a member of CISA Board of Trustees representing Enugu State and serves as the head of CISA Legal Council. He will truly be an asset to CISA.
In accepting the honor of his election as CISA’s incoming President, Attorney Aniekwu acknowledges CISA’s position as a top Igbo Diaspora Organizations in the USA and assured that he will sustain and lift CISA to greater heights. He thanked CISA membership for the confidence bestowed on him and expressed gratitude to all his predecessors for setting the bar high, pledging to make CISA proud. The President-elect promised to take CISA to a far higher level by expanding its membership, strengthening relations with African Americans and making CISA financially self-sufficient.
In his speech, Chairman of CISA Board of Presidents Chief Dr. Nwachukwu Anakwenze the Onowu of Abagana, congratulated and welcomed the incoming CISA President and also lauded the on-going progress at the renovation of Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu which, according to him, is vital and will make travel to Southeastern Nigeria convenient.
CISA believes in working in concert with all well-meaning organizations to advance Igbo interest everywhere in the world. CISA’s determination and commitment to this cause has never been stronger and so is our support for the new leadership. Our heartfelt gratitude goes to our outgoing President Nze Amadiebube Mbama for his laudable accomplishments in his two years in office.
